Honor Flight Kentucky

Our mission is to fly World War II, Korean, and Vietnam War veterans to Washington DC for a one-day, all-expenses-paid visit to the National memorials that are dedicated to honoring their service. Our goal is to fly as many Veterans as we can from Central, Eastern, and Southern Kentucky. We currently have several hundred Veteran applicants on our waiting list.

Friends of Coal

Friends of Coal is a volunteer, membership-based organization dedicated to supporting and promoting the coal industry and its vital role in local and national economies. The group works to educate the public about the importance of coal as a reliable and affordable energy source, as well as its contributions to job creation, community development, and energy independence. Through outreach and advocacy, the organization seeks to ensure that the coal industry continues to be recognized as a cornerstone of American energy and prosperity.

Welcome Home Participants

Family and friends are invited to attend the Welcome Home celebration when the flight returns on Saturday evening. It is an amazing and emotional event to greet these Veterans, so many years after their service, with the respect and gratitude they so humbly deserve.

The flight is scheduled to return at 7:30pm. You should plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes before the plane lands at Blue Grass Airport. Parking is available in the Overflow parking area on the right as you enter the Airport. Honor Flight Kentucky provides shuttle bus service between the parking lot and the terminal building.

When lining the terminal corridor for the Welcome Home, please do not squeeze your way into the walkway as Veterans and Guardians need a clear path to Baggage Claim. Please allow your Veteran to proceed to the end of the hallway before greeting them individually.

You must have a REAL ID, Passport, or government issued ID to fly in 2025!
